You are drawing one square at a time. Everything you need is on this screen — here is what each part does.

Pick a colour on the left, then click squares on the big grid. Hold the mouse down and drag to draw a line.
Pencil colours a square. Eraser empties it. Fill floods a whole closed shape. Pick steals a colour that is already there.
If Fill floods the whole screen, your outline has a gap in it. Press Undo and find the hole.
Under Reference, choose a shape to copy or use a picture from this computer. Beside puts it next to you. Behind fades it under the grid so you can draw over the top.
Want it to move? Press Add or Copy under Frames, change one small thing, then press Play.
When you are happy, press Save PNG. Then move the file into your own folder.

Nothing saves by itself. If you close this tab without pressing Save PNG, your creature is gone. Save early, save often.
